Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common vision condition that causes distant objects to appear blurry, often progressing over time without proper management.
What Is Myopia?
Myopia occurs when the eye grows too long or the cornea is too curved, causing light to focus in front of the retina rather than directly on it. This results in clear near vision but blurred distance vision. While glasses and contact lenses can correct vision, they do not address the progression of myopia.
In many cases—especially in children and young adults—myopia can worsen over time, increasing the risk of more serious eye conditions later in life. That’s why myopia control focuses on managing the progression of the condition, not just correcting it.
