The Harmful Effects of Blue Light
- Posted on: Nov 6 2015
Several studies have shown the negative effects of blue light on our sleeping habits.
What is blue light? Blue light is often emitted by many of the electronic devices we use in our daily lives. The glow of your smartphone, tablet, and computer has recently been found to mess with your sleep cycle.
Recent studies have found that blue light can keep the pineal gland from releasing melatonin, a hormone associated with nighttime and sleep, causing falling asleep to be much harder. So your night time routine of reading on your tablet, may be the reason you’re not having a good nights rest.
Sleep is important for your memory, learning, and especially your health. Changing your habits is the key to getting the good rest you need and deserve. Turn the brightness down on your digital devices and cut down digital use in the late evening hours.
