Three Reasons to Wear Sunglasses
- Posted on: Apr 3 2016
While they can make quite the fashion statement, sunglasses are vital part of your everyday routine that helps protect your eyes!
1. UV Protections: UV rays emitted by the sun speed up the cataract process and other ocular diseases and benign growths on the eye’s ocular surface. Wearing sunglasses can block these rays from causing any damage to your eyes.
2. Skin Cancer: UV rays can damage both the ocular surface as well as the skin of the eyelids. Skin cancer of the eyelids is more common than you think. Wear your sunglasses during all outdoor activities to prevent any damage to skin by sunlight.
3. Blue Light Protection: Blue light of the visible spectrum is damaging to the back of the eye. Prolonged exposure has been connected to increased risk of macular degeneration. Sunglasses can block out blue light, preventing retinal changes and making you more comfortable!
